Many notable artists have used Sunn equipment over the years.
It's hard to talk about Sunn amps without talking about the Sunn band. For the uninitiated, Sunn O))) is largely responsible for the Sunn amp's notoriety in the drone and doom genres. The band from Washington state use a huge stack of Model T amplifiers for their incredibly loud live shows. Sunn the band and Sunn the amps are so intricately linked, we have written up a seperate page here.
Drone gods Earth are the yin to Sunn O)))'s yang, with Stephen O'Malley stating that Sunn O))) was a play on Earth's name. Both bands hail from the Pacific Northwest, and Earth founder Dylan Carson was close with Kurt Cobain, who briefly experimented with Sunn amps. While Earth hasn't recently used any Sunn equipment, they did release a live album entitled "Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars."
In the same vein as Earth and Sunn O))), Japanese band Boris have used Sunn amps for years.
John used Sunn Coliseum amps throughout his career.
